Who Is
Amy?
A self-taught artist with an instinctive connection to creativity, Amy Hinchliffe has been expressing herself through art for as long as she can remember. Before pursuing her artistic path, she studied Media and English Language at college, originally planning a career in journalism. That foundation in storytelling continues to influence her work today, shaping the way she captures emotion, movement, and meaning through visual form.
Amy’s love for exploring the world began early. In 2010, she took part in a community project in Kenya, helping to build school huts in a local village and volunteering at an elephant orphanage. The experience left a lasting impression, sparking her appreciation for connection, compassion, and the beauty found in different cultures and environments.
It was during her travels in 2019 that Amy decided to take her art seriously, to move beyond a private passion and share her creations with the world. Those journeys opened her eyes to new perspectives and deepened her understanding of how creativity can bridge emotion and experience.
In February 2025, Amy and her husband climbed Mount Toubkal, the highest point in North Africa. The week-long ascent was one of the most challenging, yet rewarding, experiences of her life. That journey, both physical and emotional, reinforced her belief in resilience, growth, and finding beauty in even the toughest moments.
Later that same year, Amy entered a new chapter in her life with her marriage, a milestone that inspired a complete rebrand of her artistic identity. Formerly known by her maiden name, Amy Townend, she now signs her work as Amy Hinchliffe. The change reflects more than just a new name; it represents transformation, strength, and a renewed sense of self.
Amy’s work is expressive and instinctive, often created with fast, fluid movements that capture fleeting memories and emotions. She paints not only what she sees, but how a place or moment made her feel. Experimental by nature, she enjoys exploring a wide range of mediums, including acrylic, inks, oil pastels and charcoal , allowing each piece to develop its own rhythm and energy. Through this evolving process, Amy continues to explore themes of emotion, discovery, and connection - letting her art grow and change alongside her life.
